Dearest one,
Happy Easter. I hope that you, wherever you are, are more than well and celebrating Easter with lots and lots and LOTS of LOVE. And if you aren't, well, let me tell you that I love you.
If you knew how much you were loved, this life would probably be a whole lot less painful. This world hurts.
It really does doesn't it? It hurts in ways many if not all of us can not describe. The saddest part is in many ways we hurt ourselves. We humans are actually really hurtful. We cause pain and hold onto it. We all have our own evil. We all have our own way of dealing with it. We were not meant to do this alone...
In the midst of chocolate bunny rabbits and decorations made of mere card board and tissue paper, with some glue to hold it all together: It is beyond easy to forget that all of this is happening because of love. We are all loved whether or not we see it. It is impossible to exist as we do without being loved. Some of us are loved widely, which is very easy to take for granted. Then some of us sadly spend our time here not knowing that we are loved. Some never here the words I LOVE YOU. But none of this changes the fact that we are all LOVED.
YOU ARE LOVED. You are loved so deeply and widely that even though we sin God still loves us. Loved so fathomlessly that after everything and I mean everything we've done, He judged us worthy of Love. Jesus loves you so much that he chose the worst death imaginable to suffer for us. God loves you so much that it cost him everything.
“This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again." John 3:16 (The Message)
“For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God." John 3:16-18 (ESV)
This is Easter. This is knowing that we don't do this on our own because we are not alone. We are not alone because we are loved. If anything this is the greatest love story of all time. Jesus came to take our place and take our suffering because it is too big for us. This is why we celebrate now, because we have been set free all because of the greatest LOVE.
HEAD OVER HEALS, UNCONDITIONAL, PURE, LOVE. (Hillsong) So, when you look at that cross, know that you are loved. Loved with a Love much bigger than us.
